I'm a slender 5' 5", 113 pounds 27" waist and 35" hips. According to the Pearl Izumi sizing chart a Small in these shorts should fit fine. However, I do have to say they are quite snug. Sitting to eat before a ride they really cut into my gut. But once I'm riding (25 - 45 miles at a pop) they feel fine. Have only used them three rids so far. Padding is good, but not my favorite pair because of the snugness. The stripe is not as red as I thought it would be. It has red - and quite a bit of pink. Fit and function function are spot on though. This is my third pair. Once I determined that I liked these shorts, I bought a few more just in case Pearl Izumi changes the cut and fit again. I'm 5'7" and 140 lbs and got the size Medium. They do not create the sausage leg and they do not bunch in the crotch. Also, the waist band does not slide down under my belly and stays in place.Smallest of all my PI cycling pants - they are all Medium. Comfortable once I managed to pull them on. However, the chamois started to rub on a longish ride.I am going to try a medium, ordered the small which I am returning. I am slender. 5'6" and weigh about 118 and these were really, really tight (way too small)Very comfortable with the wide waist band. I sized up from my normal small to a medium and they fit very well. I have done anywhere from 15 to 100 miles and have been comfortable the whole time.Mine ripped after 5 rides. I buy Pearl iZUMi Elite shorts all the time in the same style. I have never had this issue before. These shorts are well constructed and look great but I found the chamois to be extremely uncomfortable. I am a long time cyclist and this chamois was the worst I have ever owned. It has raised thick padding through the front center. I became very sore after 30 mintues of riding. It is hard to believe that Pearl Izumi purposely designed a chamois like this. These shorts are unusable for me - a total waste of money!! I compared the chamois shown on the Pearl Izumi website with the chamois I have. They are both orange in color, but my chamois is not contoured-just uniformly thick padding throughout.. Could I have a counterfeit or a factory second?
